Saloon pilot contest

In the category of "didja know?":

Didja know the crew of the Hokule'a carries saloon pilot and other Diamond Bakery crackers on voyages? And that the watertight containers are used as furniture?

Didja know that saloon pilots were once a standard breakfast mixed with warm milk and sugar?

Didja know that your saloon pilot recipe could be worth a $500 shopping spree?

Deadline is Dec. 15 to enter the "Search for the Ultimate Diamond" contest. Diamond Bakery, to mark its 82nd anniversary, is collecting stories and recipes involving the saloon pilot or other crackers and cookies in its line.

Submissions will be judged on uniqueness and creativity, local appeal, adherence to the theme and "the company's mission of sharing heartwarming aloha with the world" (this apparently means nothing naughty).

First prize is a digital camera for best memory and a shopping spree at the Executive Chef for best recipe. Second prize in each category is a year's supply of Diamond products.

Entry forms are available at stores that sell Diamond products, or request one by e-mail at info@diamondbakery.com or by mail at P.O. Box 17760, Honolulu 96817. Winners will be announced on New Year's Eve.
