B is for barware
Here's to a few tools that will allow friends to live up to the old holiday adage that insists, without fostering much resistance, that all eat, drink and be merry.
Just add alcohol and a designated driver.
Pour it on: Wine pourers, with collars, help catch drips before they hit the tablecloth ($22), from Brookstone at Victoria Ward Centre.
Mix it up: Stainless steel Professional Bartending Set ($40, on special for $24.99 while supplies last) includes a double jigger with handle, strainer, garnish knife, stirring spoon, ice tong and base. For those parties on the go, the Travel Bar Set ($75) is a smaller version of the pro set with extras including a cocktail shaker, two flasks and four cups. All fit nicely in a leather carrying case.
Cause a stir: Go the extra step by playing on favorite pastimes. For the golf fan, sterling silver golf swizzle sticks ($39 for set of six), or for the soul surfer, a surfer bottle stop in pewter finish ($18). Both are from Tommy Bahama at Ala Moana Center.
What'll it be?: For wine aficionados, the Heritage Wine Connoisseur set ($50) from Brookstone includes a wine opener, Teflon-coated worm, bottle stopper, pourer, foil cutter and wine collar. The set comes in a wooden box. Or for Mojito maniacs, try Mojito gift glassware with a design by Daniel Justin Chase ($39 for set of four). The muddler, for crushing mint for the drink, is a separate buy at $7. Both are from Tommy Bahama.
