Yen hurt by slow recovery signs
TOKYO >> The yen headed for its worst week in four months in Asia as reports showed Japan's jobless, household spending and industrial production were worse than expected, signs an economic recovery may be slower than some had forecast.
"The numbers were a bit of a shock, and are hurting the yen," said Shogo Nagaya, foreign exchange manager at Nomura Trust & Banking Co.

>> Communications Pacific has hired Carissa Shimon as an assistant account executive in CommPac's corporate communications group. She comes from Hill & Knowlton's Irvine, Calif. office, where she was an account coordinator in the company's sports marketing and media groups.
>> Hawaii Convention Center has hired Lisa A. Wong as human resources manager. She is responsible for all human resource matters related to the Center's employees, including training and management development. She previously served as human resources manager for ACS Inc.'s Hawaii division.
>> Fred Kenison Jr. has been appointed controller at Finance Insurance. He will oversee the integrity of the company's accounting functions and practices; ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures; and provide direction, development and guidance for accounting personnel. Prior to joining the company, he served in National Mortgage & Finance's accounting department for more than 15 years. He most recently worked as controller for specialty trade subcontractor Acutron Co.
