Na Koa UH football banquet set for Dec. 7
The 2003 Na Koa Football Club's annual Alec Waterhouse Memorial Football Awards Banquet is scheduled for Dec. 7 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
Coach June Jones, his staff, support personnel and special guests will join fans in honoring the Hawaii team, which will conclude its season in the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Day.
Highlights include the 2003 season player awards and video from KFVE. The featured speaker is former NFL special teams coach Frank Gansz Sr.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Alec Waterhouse, who spearheaded the creation of the Na Koa Football Club.

Eldredges to hold winter baseball clinics Dec. 20
Eldredge Athletics will conduct two half-day winter baseball clinics for players ages 9-15 on Dec. 20 at the Mililani High School baseball complex.
The hitting clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with check in at 8:30. The defense runs from 1-4 p.m. with check in at 12:30. Cost is $40 per clinic and includes a T-shirt. The price for both clinics is $75 and includes lunch. Applications are available at City Bank and Rainbow Sports. Clinics are limited to 50 participants and the deadline is Dec. 13.
Coaches will include Duane Eldredge, Boy Eldredge, Pal Eldredge and Dave Eldredge. Family members have coached teams in numerous youth world series, regional, Interscholastic League of Honolulu, state high school, college divisional and regional championships.

Fund-raiser at Waikele and Barbers Point courses
The "Take a Swing at Crime in the Sony Open" project to raise funds for Friends of Hawaii Charities moves to the Waikele and Barbers Point golf clubs Saturday. Players giving a $10 donation receive a complimentary daily admission ticket to the Sony Open in Hawaii, Jan. 12-18.
CPR, surf safety clinics at Sunset
A CPR awareness training clinic open to the public will be held Saturday at the Sunset Beach Elementary School cafeteria. For more information, call 589-2251.
A surf safety clinic dealing with injury prevention and how to get fit to handle the big surf and strong currents on the North Shore is set for Sunday at noon at Sunset Beach.
Booters get boost from tire company
Lex Brodie's Tire Company and Uniroyal Tire have donated funds and equipment valued at more than $550 to the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club as part of a nationwide youth soccer program.
Lex Brodie's Tire Company also donated an estimated $9,000 in soccer balls to local schools and youth organizations.
"This is such a great program because everyone benefits. The kids get free soccer balls, the league receives funds and we have the opportunity to meet new families," said Robert Smock of Lex Brodie's Tire Company.
YWCA girls league seeks players, volunteers
The YWCA of Oahu is offering a 10-week youth volleyball league for girls ages 8-14 with play to run Jan. 11 through March 14.
The league will be conducted with an "every child plays" noncompetitive format, focusing on fun, and the development of social, athletic and team-building skills. Cost is $67, with sign-up Dec. 1 through Jan. 2 at the YWCA Laniakea Center, 1040 Richards Street. Kids registered before Dec. 21 will receive a $5 early bird discount.
The league is also looking for volunteers -- parents, siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends are encouraged to become involved in its ohana-oriented program. No experience is necessary.

Kealii Reichel headlines Honolulu Marathon luau
Kealii Reichel and Jake Shimabukuro will perform at the 31st Honolulu Marathon luau concert Dec. 12 at the Waikiki Shell. Reichel will serve as the headline act with Shimabukuro as special guest.
Runners will pay $20 for the concert and all-you-can-eat luau.
