Seasiders swamp San Francisco State
SAN FRANCISCO >> The Brigham Young-Hawaii basketball team continued its fast start last night with an 89-66 victory over the University of San Francisco.
Shawn Opunui led the way for the Seasiders with 32 points. He hit 10 of 14 shots from the field, including six from beyond the arc. He played the entire game with no fouls and six assists.
Austin Smylie also contributed in the win as the Seasiders raised their season record to 2-1. He had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Michael Stowell added 17 points and two assists. BYUH shot a blistering 58 percent from the field and hit 20 of 24 from the free-throw line.
Little League registration
The Waipio Little League is registering players ages 9-18 for the 2004 season, Sunday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at The Batter's Box, 94-1108 B Ukee St., Waipahu. The Pearl City Little League is registering players ages 5-18 for the 2004 season, Saturday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pearl City Highlands Recreation Center.
Levy named Mercedes 'Volunteer of the Year'
The Mercedes Championship has named Bob Levy "Volunteer of the Year" for 2003 in recognition of his support and commitment to the success of the event. Levy has been marshaling for more than 20 years beginning with the Aku Cup tournaments and has been involved with the PGA Tour, the LPGA and the Champions Tour ever since.
