Lucky client
gets makeover

JUDGING BY the response the Star-Bulletin got to its recent "You Look FAB-ulous!" contest, a lot of people are getting into the makeover craze these days.

Marsha Nadalin Salon and Spa took advantage of this and tied it into their 10-year anniversary celebration, offering a year's worth of haircuts, massages, facials, manicures and pedicures to one lucky winner. Entrants had to submit a three-minute video explaining why they deserved the treatments.

In the end, it was Honolulu resident Jodi Yoshimura who got picked in what owner Marsha Nadalin called "a great way to reward our faithful clients and ... give someone a free ride as we enter our second decade of business." ...

THANKSGIVING MEANS the weekend starts a few days earlier, and that brings a number of parties tomorrow night you won't want to miss.

Over at Ala Moana Center, Longhi's opens its doors to the party crowd for the first time tomorrow starting at 9 p.m. The "Star Bar" features San Francisco's (although he's gigged so frequently around town lately, some people are starting to think he lives here) DJ Mei Lwun in a four-hour power set followed by DJ Rayne. Cover is $10 for this one, but the view alone should make it worth the price of admission. Call 947-9899 ...

JUST AROUND the corner at the Ala Moana Hotel, Rumours Nightclub will kick off the final round of "Hawaii Idol" tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.

Michelle Lynch, Steve Miyamoto and Alvin Shin are scheduled to compete for top honors in the karaoke contest, hosted by former 99.5 The Breeze staffers Ola Souza, Mahlon Moore and Alan Yamamoto. Call 948-9412 ...

AND IT'S going to get crazy at the Beach House tomorrow when Ho'onu'a brings all their friends to Aloha Tower Marketplace for a CD release party.

Joining Christian Yrizarry and Jared Keo on the Beach House's two stages are Ko'u Mana'o, Koa'uka, Thick Tubes, Roots Odyssey, Inoa'ole, the Opihi Pickers, Sudden Rush, Three Plus, Natural Vibrations, Oshen and B.E.T. Doors open at 6 p.m. for this 21-and-over party; call 566-0644 for more info ...

PARTY SAFE this weekend, and have a great Thanksgiving. I've got the rest of the week off; this column returns next Tuesday ...
