Logtens beats Widom for Waikoloa Futures

Fifth seeded Paul Logtens of the Netherlands beat Todd Widom of the U.S. for the Waikoloa Futures tennis title yesterday.

Logtens picked up $1,350 and 18 ATP ranking points with the 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Widom, who won the Honolulu Futures tournament last week, withdrew from the doubles championship with cramps to give Trace Fielding and Keith From that title.

Sea Warriors lose again in Alaska

Point guard Marvin Noble scored 16 points in 39 minutes but couldn't prevent Hawaii Pacific from opening its season with its third straight loss in Alaska yesterday.

The Sea Warriors (0-3) lost to 3-0 Alaska-Anchorage 80-67 in the fourth game of the AT&T Alaska Jamboree yesterday.

Aaron Abrams and Albert Tecul each had 10 points for HPU while Peter Bullock led Anchorage with 26 points.

Hegedus-Liu take Women's Night Doubles

Brigham Young-Hawaii tennis players Adrienn Hegedus and Jing Jing Liu beat teammates Anna Anikanova and Guriana Korinihona for the Women's Night Doubles title at Kailua Raquet Club Saturday.

Hegedus and Liu won their match 6-3, 6-3 after Davilyn Godinet and Shakti Stream beat Mimi Kennell and Judy Weitz 8-6 in the 8-game, pro-set match for third place.
