A special appearance by the San Francisco 49ers cheerleaders will highlight this weekend's Sunset on the Beach food, entertainment and movie festival.
Hawaiian music starts at 4 p.m. today and tomorrow at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki, followed by live entertainment at 5 p.m.
Today, several finalists from the "Hawaii Stars" television program will perform at 5 p.m., and the cheerleaders at 6 p.m.
Tomorrow, radio station deejays will entertain the audience with contests before bringing on the Nightlife musical group from 5 to 6:45 p.m.
At 7 p.m. today the movie will be "Bend It Like Beckham," a true story about a daughter from an upscale Indian family in London who wants to play professional soccer. Tomorrow's featured movie is "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," starring Reese Witherspoon.
Sunset on the Beach also offers appetizers and meals from restaurants including Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog & Shaved Ice, Paradise Water Ice/Na'ama Mediterranean Delights, Imari Benton & Okazu, Leo's Taverna, K Restaurant, Time 2 Grind, Bale Sandwich & Restaurant, Popcorn Express and Mr. Pizza.
Novelty vendor Sami's Blinkers and 16 "Made in Hawaii" craft makers and artisans will also be there. The craft fair begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. on both days.
The event is sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii Restaurant Association, Hawaii Tourism Authority, News 8 and K5 the Home Team. For more information, call 523-2489.
