Fifth-graders from Punahou School performed a few numbers with African drums yesterday at the East-West Center, part of opening ceremonies for the Fourth Annual International Education Week, Monday to next Friday. A VOLCANIC CAST

art

Plaster-laden fabric will cover more than a dozen volunteers on Sunday as Josuf Hadley makes a cast to form the base and slopes of a volcano. Hadley directed a dry run yesterday, positioning the volunteers with his helper, Heather James Wood. The plaster cast will then be the mold used to create a concrete cast. What is visible in the foreground is what will be the summit of the volcano-shaped sculpture.
