Schwarzenegger’s family
spotted near Maui resort

WAILUKU >> In the days leading up to his inauguration, California Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger jetted off to Hawaii with wife Maria Shriver and their four children, according to Reuters news service.

Maui Beach Club activities owner David Flavin said one of his employees saw Shriver with two children on the beach between the Four Seasons Resort and Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in South Maui on Saturday but did not see Schwarzenegger.

Flavin said Schwarzenegger has been a visitor to South Maui previously, playing with his children on a water trampoline in the ocean.

Schwarzenegger is scheduled to be sworn into office Monday in Sacramento.

Reuters said Schwarzenegger's staff has been portraying him as hard at work preparing for his transition to governor.

"He will hold private transition meetings and discussions with members of his transition team," his office has said in a daily statement.

But his office declined to talk about Hawaii.

"We are not going to discuss his private time and what he chooses to do in his private time," spokeswoman Karen Hanretty told Reuters. "On a daily basis he continues to work on establishing a new administration, regardless of where he is."
