Oahu Water Board says water usage going up
Oahu water use climbed by almost 2 million gallons a day for the week ending Nov. 12, compared with the week earlier, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply said yesterday.
"Although we've enjoyed a few weeks of cooler weather, Oahu's wells still need to recover from the high demands placed on them in the summer," the board's weekly report on water use said.
Customers used 159.8 million gallons a day Nov. 6-12, compared with 157.96 million gallons a day the week before. The usage also is 4.6 million gallons a day more than the same week a year ago.
In August the board asked residents to conserve water usage because of the drought.
