Filmmaker’s reception
at Sunset Grill
Hawaii's film community is invited to meet "Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion" producer Victoria Mudd at a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Sunset Grill, Restaurant Row, prior to the 7:10 screening of her film at Wallace Restaurant Row. The reception with no-host bar is sponsored by ReviewedMovies.com, with contributions from Charmaine Crockett and Ute Regan.
"Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion," is a sweeping and compelling look at the struggle of the Tibetan people for freedom over the course of more than five decades. Blending key events in history with the current headlines, this rich tapestry of history, politics, faith and hope also provides a real life drama that is an eye-opening.
Mudd studied with the widow of Robert Flaherty, the "father" of documentary films, in the early '70s, and has been involved in the production of documentary films ever since. She studied cultural anthropology at Stanford University, is a partner in Earthworks Films and co-director/producer of "Broken Rainbow," winner of the 1986 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
The film continues regular screenings through Nov. 20. Tickets are $5.25 for matinee performances and $7.75 for evenings.
