Macy's stores set to open

Macy's will open the doors of new stores in Hilo and on Maui on Saturday.

The two stores, previously J.C. Penney sites, underwent extensive remodeling and renovation. The additions means that Macy's will have almost doubled its space at the Prince Kuhio Plaza store in Hilo and at the Queen Kaahumanu store in Kahului. The new location in the Queen Kaahumanu mall means Macy's will occupy almost 86,000 square feet of retail space on two levels at the center, bringing the combined total space to 166,000 square feet. In Hilo, Macy's space increased from 62,000 square feet to 112,000 square feet.
