Police still searching
for suspects in shooting
The victims in Saturday night's fatal shooting in Pearl City may have known their attackers, police said yesterday.
Police are searching for two suspects who shot two Honolulu men, one fatally, about 9:48 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the busy Pearl City Shopping Center.
Police have no new leads nor any possible motives in the case, Honolulu police Chief Lee Donohue said at a press conference yesterday.
"We have reason to believe they may know each other," Donohue said.
Donohue asked for the public's help in finding the suspects, who fled in a small red pickup truck, possibly a Toyota or Nissan.
The surviving victim remains in critical condition at the Queen's Medical Center and has not yet been questioned by police, he said.
The shooting happened in front of Longs Drug Store at 850 Kamehameha Highway. Donohue said an argument arose between two men in a white Honda and two males standing outside in the parking lot.
One of the males standing outside allegedly fired six shots into the car, fatally wounding the 36-year-old passenger and critically wounding the driver, 24, police said.
Police said the passenger was shot again as he ran toward a nearby Chevron service station.
The passenger was taken to Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi, where he died.
An autopsy will be performed today.
The suspects face one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree attempted murder.
