Man faces charges after alleged shooting
Honolulu police have charged a 30-year-old man with four counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting two people outside a Kailua sports bar early Monday morning.
Witnesses told police that Joseph Stanford Leak Jr. shot a 24-year-old man in the leg and shot another 16-year-old male in the stomach several times outside Porky's Sports Bar, at 32 Maluniu Ave. According to a police affidavit, when officers arrived they found Leak holding a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
Witnesses told police that Leak pulled the gun out of a black bag and shot both men, then turned toward a third man and pointed the gun at him but did not shoot. Police said the alleged shooting incident occurred after Leak was confronted by three to five men and one of them threw a punch at him.
Police charged Leak with first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree terroristic threatening and several firearm offenses. Leak is being held in lieu of $195,000 bail.
