Aloha to offer Pago Pago flight

Aloha Airlines announced yesterday it would launch twice-weekly round-trip service between Hawaii and American Samoa.

The flights between Honolulu and Pago Pago will begin Dec. 16.

Aloha will offer flights leaving Honolulu on Tuesdays and Fridays and departing Pago Pago on Sundays and Thursdays. The American Samoa-bound flights will continue on to Raratonga in the Cook Islands, 859 miles southeast of Pago Pago.

Glenn Zander, Aloha's president and chief executive officer, said the added flights were a response to customer interest.

Aloha is offering special round-trip fares between Honolulu and Pago Pago of $598 plus taxes and fees. The introductory one-way fare from neighbor islands is $648; and it's $898 from Burbank, Oakland, Orange County, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Reno and Phoenix.

Hawaiian Airlines already operates a Pago Pago-Honolulu route.

Chiropractic USA to open isle sites

Chiropractic USA Inc., the first national chiropractic franchise, will open its first two Hawaii locations next month led by Hawaii doctors Bruce Wong and Kathy Higgins. Chiropractic USA, a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Banyan Corp., also has entered into an area representative agreement with Wong for the development of at least 100 Chiropractic USA clinics throughout the islands.

Wong Family Chiropractic and Higgins Family Chiropractic will mark their new affiliation with a grand opening on Nov. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 615 Piikoi St., Suites 801 and 812. RSVP by Nov. 6 to Wong Family Chiropractic, 593-2807, or Higgins Family Chiropractic, 596-7178.

Wong and Higgins specialize in family health improvement and wellness through corrective chiropractic care.

DCCA move forces short closures

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will relocate to the former U.S. Post Office, now the King Kalakaua Building on Merchant Street downtown. The move will take place over two weeks necessitating the temporary closure of a number of DCCA divisions.

The Office of Consumer Protection, as well as the Regulated Industries Complaints office, will remain open during the move at their current offices in the Leiopapa A Kamehameha Building on South Beretania Street. The schedule for other DCCA division closures is as follows: Insurance Division, closed Nov. 13, 14 and 17; Division of Financial Institutions, Nov. 17 and 18; Office of Administrative Hearings and Department of Consumer Advocacy, Nov. 18 and 19; Cable Television and Director's Office, Nov. 19 and 20; Business Registration, Nov. 20, 21 and 24; Professional and Vocational Licensing Nov. 24, 25 and 26. The divisions plan to reopen at 7:45 a.m. the morning following their move dates. For more information, contact Bill Brennan, DCCA Information Specialist at 586-7579.
