>> The fourth annual Niketown 5 and Kids Run in Waikiki raised $79,000 for Oahu's public and private schools. Maemae Elementary School had the most participants in the race -- 500 -- for the fourth year in a row, raising about $6,500 to renovate playground equipment and other projects.
Other top participating schools included Kaimuki Middle School, with 373 participants; Holy Trinity School, 231; and the University of Hawaii Educational Laboratory School, 182.
The first-place male was Michael Siul, and the first-place female was Kristin Markowicz.
Niketown also donated new shoes and sports equipment to Hawaii's Adopt-a-Teacher program.
>> The Sex Abuse Treatment Center has received $5,000 from the First Hawaiian Foundation, the charitable arm of First Hawaiian Bank, for its prevention and education program.
>> The YMCA of Honolulu has received $350,000 from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to prevent inhalant and crystal methamphetamine ("ice") abuse among youth, focusing on Asians and Pacific Islanders ages 11 to 14. The amount is part of a $12 million grant to be awarded over three years to 12 programs in 11 states.
>> The Salvation Army has received $46,000 from the G.N. Wilcox Trust to sustain three programs:
* The Family Treatment Services, $30,000 for its Kaimuki campus.
* The Lihue Corps on Kauai, $10,000 in support of its Family Services Center.
* The divisional headquarters, $6,000 to maintain support services.
>> PBS Hawaii has received a $30,000 grant from the Robert E. Black Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation so it can conduct a market survey of the different programs people want to watch.

Public is asked to help locate missing girl, 12
Kona police are asking for the public's help in locating a 12-year-old Kailua-Kona girl who has been missing since last month.
Police have identified the girl as Nicole Kanani Yates. She is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 110 pounds, with a fair complexion, brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about Nicole's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Aimee Wana, of the West Hawaii Juvenile Aid Section, at 808-326-4233 or the police nonemergency number at 808-935-3311.

2 suspects on the run after robbing store
Honolulu police are looking for two men who robbed a Dillingham convenience store yesterday morning.
Police said that at 3:14 a.m. the suspects walked into the store at 1900 Dillingham Blvd., grabbed two packs of beer and attempted to leave without paying. A security guard attempted to stop the suspects as they left but backed off after one of them displayed a knife.
Both suspects were described as between 18 to 20 years old. One suspect was reported to be 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, with a heavy build, black crew-cut hair and wearing a red sleeveless T-shirt and black shorts.
The second suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, also weighing 160 pounds, and with black crew-cut hair. He was last seen wearing a blue sleeveless T-shirt.
Police said the pair was seen fleeing the store on foot on Mokauea Street. Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the HPD Criminal Investigation Division at 529-3115.
