The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

HEI leads the way
Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., which reports its third-quarter earnings before the stock market opens Monday, was the only company in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index to post a gain this week. HEI rose 1.5 percent to close yesterday at $44.52.
Bank of Hawaii Corp., which also reports Monday, slipped 2 percent to end at $35.14.
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., whose only subsidiary, Hawaiian Airlines, is in Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy, posted the worst performance with a decline of 8.3 percent. Hawaiian Holdings said it has received an 18-month extension to keep its stock listed on the American Stock Exchange.
