The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

MLP hits another high
Maui Land & Pineapple Co., the best performing stock in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index this year, hit another all-time high as it beat out 11 other stocks this week with a 0.9 percent gain. The company, which has shed most of its commercial real estate holdings and recently named a new chief executive officer, closed at $27.75 yesterday after reaching a high mark of $28.10 on Monday. The shares are up 75.2 percent this year.
Bank of Hawaii Corp., which reports its third-quarter earnings on Oct. 27, also hit an all-time high this week, touching $36.25 on Thursday before closing the week up 0.1 percent at $35.85.
