Low-cost airline ATA will launch nonstop daily Seattle-Honolulu service Feb. 20.
ATA, the operating subsidiary of ATA Airlines Inc., already flies to Hawaii from Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The airline said the service will include in-flight movies and free hot meals. It will use Boeing 757-200 aircraft, which recently had passenger leg room increased by cutting the number of seats to 200 from 216.
The Seattle service will start with fares as low as $524 for a round trip, including taxes and fees. That is about $20 lower than competitors are offering. However, Hawaiian Airlines has a Web-only Seattle-Honolulu round trip for $460 for off-peak periods after Feb. 20.
Making the announcement from ATA's headquarters in Indianapolis was John Happ, the airline's senior vice president of marketing and sales, who had that title at Hawaiian Airlines until early this year.
