Utilities back on
at Nuuanu cemetery
Star-Bulletin staff
Water and electricity have been turned on at Nuuanu's Honolulu Memorial Park, officials with the nonprofit association running the cemetery said yesterday.
Utilities at the park, known for its landmark pagoda, have been off since September, before the cemetery's bankrupt majority stockholders relinquished their 90-percent ownership and donated their shares to nonprofit Friends of Honolulu Memorial Park.
The group is currently soliciting bids for daily administration of the cemetery, landscaping maintenance, marketing and sales. They're also asking for volunteers to collect trash and restore the cemetery's landscape.
