No. 14 Hawaii Pacific sweeps Chaminade

Flavia Brakling put down 20 kills and Nadica Karleusa added 17 as the 14th-ranked Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team handed Chaminade its first conference loss last night 30-24, 30-19, 31-29 at Blaisdell Arena.

Vera Oliveira had 46 assists and 13 digs as the Sea Warriors improved to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the Pacific West Conference. Patti Hardimon and Kahala Kabalis each had 11 kills for the Silverswords, who fell to 8-5 and 3-1.

Wahine golf team finishes 11th

LAS CRUCES, N.M. >> The Hawaii women's golf team placed 11th at yesterday's Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by New Mexico State. The Rainbow Wahine had an aggregate 939, 51 strokes behind winner Oklahoma.

Kansas State's Christine Boucher earned medalist honors with a three-round 213. UH's top golfer was freshman Sara Odelius, who carded a 54-hole 223 to share sixth place with four others.

Seasiders fall to Tritons in water polo

SAN DIEGO >> The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's water polo team lost to No. 6 UC San Diego last night in double overtime 12-10.

The Seasiders (7-4), ranked 15th, got three goals from freshman Vlada Stankovic and 12 saves by goal Peter Caley. BYUH had an 8-7 lead with 3:42 left in regulation but were outscored 2-1 in the final minutes to force overtime against the host Tritons (10-6).

Kennelly eliminated by wild card

HOSSEGOR, France >> Ratings leader Keala Kennelly of Kauai was eliminated from the Roxy Pro France women's surf contest yesterday by French wild card Emmanuelle Joly.

Kennelly trailed the entire heat of the $60,000 World Championship Tournament meet against Joly. Also eliminated yesterday was Rochelle Ballard of Hawaii.

The only Hawaii surfer remaining is Megan Abubo, who defeated Brazil's Jacqueline Silva.
