Ashanti Oct. 30 concert
tickets are on sale

TICKETS WENT on sale last weekend for an Oct. 30 concert at the Blaisdell by the "Princess of Hip-Hop and R&B," Murder Inc. recording artist Ashanti.

It's definitely a step up in venues this time around for the 23-year-old singer, who comes to town in support of her sophomore release, "Chapter II." When she performed here in June of last year, Ashanti shared a stage in the parking lot of Aloha Stadium with Ja Rule and Amanda Perez during the 50th State Fair.

If you missed that show, get ready to spend a little bit more for the privilege of being in her presence; tickets will set you back $39.50, although you do have a choice between reserved seats upstairs or a dance floor setup downstairs at the arena. Surf to www.ticketmaster.com for more info, or call (866) 750-4400 to order by phone ...

FORMER MISS HAWAII Traci Toguchi made an appearance on KSSK radio last weekend with Michael W. Perry and Larry Price, where she performed the songs "I Will Always Love You" and "Respect." If you missed it, she's also been asked to sing the National Anthem before one of this week's Los Angeles Lakers games at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The next six months look to be pretty busy for Toguchi -- she's on track to be the featured singer on a Christmas CD that's due out next month, and her next solo effort, "Feel the Breeze," is scheduled for release in March of next year. She's also set to perform this weekend at the Flavors of Technology Awards Gala, and on Oct. 19 during the "Na Mele Nei Sunday Concert Series" at Ward Warehouse ...

SPEAKING OF the L.A. Lakers, Hawaii Beauty and Diversity Television presents three exclusive VIP after-parties with limo service and free champagne. Tickets start at $55 per person, with events scheduled at Zanzabar tonight, Indigo tomorrow and Meritage on Thursday. Call 330-3627 for more ...

AND FOLLOWING a successful run at Auntie Pasto's, Matty Liu's "Chemistry Lounge" party makes the move to Meritage in Restaurant Row this week.

Doors open at 10 p.m. tonight for the 21-and-over crowd, with DJs 45 and Mr. I.N.C. providing a soundtrack of hip-hop, soul and dancehall. And don't forget about Liu's other party, "The Break," going off Thursday nights in Haleiwa at Breakers Restaurant ...
