[ TURNING POINT ]
Momentum abandons Hawaii just before half
Tim Chang went nearly six quarters into the Western Athletic Conference season before throwing his first interception.
But when Oliver Fletcher picked him off at midfield with less than five minutes to go in the first half last night at Tulsa, Okla., it turned out to be huge.
Four plays later, James Kilian found Richard McQuillar for a 22-yard touchdown pass, and the Hurricane closed to 16-10.
Just as importantly, the home team gained momentum, which it never relinquished in eventually winning 27-16.
"That's what it seemed like to me," Hawaii right guard Uriah Moenoa said. "But we've got to overcome those things. We had a whole half to do so."

[ COMING UP ]
Bulldogs bring anger to Hawaii next week
Fresno State comes to Hawaii for Saturday's game stinging almost as much as UH, as FSU lost 34-10 at Colorado State yesterday.
Much of the luster is gone, but this is still a big Western Athletic Conference game for both teams. If UH loses, it can kiss its league championship hopes goodbye and the Hawaii Bowl committee might begin getting nervous, too, worrying if the Warriors can win the requisite seven games to be preseason eligible.
The Bulldogs (3-3, 1-0 WAC) have history and venue working against them -- Fresno State has lost its last four games at Aloha Stadium, dating back to 1995.
Also, the Warriors beat the Bulldogs at Fresno 31-21 last year with a second-half comeback. It was the first time UH beat FSU there since 1973.
The Bulldogs are 0-3 on the road this season.
