Dining around the islands
Food experts join to serve Lanai dinners
A Southern California chef and a Northern California wine master team up for two days of dinners at the Lodge at Koele on Lanai.
Tim Goodell, executive chef at the Orange County, Calif., restaurants Aubergine, Troquet, Whist and Red Pearl Kitchen, will be joined by master sommelier Nunzio Alioto on Saturday and next Sunday, presenting a prix fixe dinner each night and a cooking demonstration on Sunday.
Tim Goodell, recently named as one of Food & Wine magazine's "Best Chefs in America," will be presenting a prix-fixe dinner at the Lodge at Koele on Lanai.
Goodell and his wife, Liza, opened the French restaurant Aubergine in Newport Beach in 1964. Their latest project is Red Pearl, a Chinese restaurant in Huntington Beach. Goodell was recently named one of Food & Wine magazine's "Best Chefs in America."
Alioto was only the eighth American to be named master sommelier, earning the title in 1987. He owns a wine label, Gira Sole, and is managing partner of Alioto's restaurant, a landmark at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, and the Valhalla Restaurant in Sausalito.
Goodell joins executive chef Bradley Czajka of the Lodge, presenting the two four-course signature dinners, accompanied by Gira Sole wines. Cost is $75 or $125 with wine.
Goodell and Alioto will lead a free cooking demonstration and wine tasting at 3:30 p.m. next Sunday in the Library at the Lodge.
