The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

A&B hits 5-year high
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. jumped 10 percent this week to its highest closing price in more than 5 1/2 years to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The parent of Matson Navigation Co. closed yesterday at $30.33, its highest level since it hit $30.56 on March 31, 1998.
Cyanotech Corp., which is appealing a Nasdaq SmallCap Market decision to delist the company's stock from that index, rose 9.6 percent to 57 cents.
Maui Land & Pineapple Co., the Star-Bulletin index's best performer this year with a 65.7 percent gain, tacked on 9.2 percent to $26.25 after hitting an all-time closing high of $27.43 on Wednesday.
