Reel Big Fish tickets
go on sale Saturday

TICKETS go on sale Saturday for the return of Reel Big Fish. They'll be at Pipeline Cafe on Nov. 12, almost a year to the day after last playing here.

Band members Aaron Barrett, Carlos De La Garza, Tyler Jones, Scott Klopfenstein, Dan Regan and Matt Wong performed last night in Pennsylvania, and will take about a week off before heading out for two concerts on the East Coast and another three dates in Japan.

As is the case with most acts, we'll get a chance to catch the Fish as they swim back to the mainland from Asia. Check out www.goldenvoice.com later this week for more details about the show ...

ANOTHER CONCERT you won't want to miss is the Digital Underground on Nov. 3, again at Pipeline. Tickets are already on sale for this one, which also happens to be the first time the group will be performing in Hawaii.

Having trouble remembering who the Digital Underground are? Since their formation in Oakland back in 1987, the rap collective dropped gems like "Doowhutchyalike," "Kiss You Back," and of course, "The Humpty Dance," featuring frontman Shock G's alter-ego, Humpty Hump.

A limited number of $15 presale tickets are available at Pipeline; you can also grab $20 general admission tickets at Cheapo in Puck's Alley, Hawaii's Natural High and Mango Moon in Kaneohe. Call 589-1999 ...

GET DOWN to Venus tonight and help Island Fire Productions welcome Miss Hawaii Kanoelani Gibson back from her successful journey to the mainland for the Miss America pageant. Gibson is scheduled to be at the club for "Promiseland," featuring free drinks for the ladies from 10 to 11:30 p.m. and free sushi from 10 to 11 p.m.

Party people 18-and-older are welcome at "Promiseland," and a camera crew from the television show "No Shame" will also be on hand. Call 951-8671 ...

AND FINALLY, the place to be tomorrow night is Rumours Nightclub in the Ala Moana Hotel. Forget about the "American Idol" tryouts this week -- get over to Rumours for the "Hawaii Idol" competition, starting at 6 p.m. Eight finalists will compete over the next seven weeks for a recording session with Hoku Award-winning producer Kata Maduli and a VIP weekend at the hotel. Call 955-4811 for more info ...
