Hearn, McClean win at Waikaloa

John Hearn shot a 66 yesterday to erase a four-stroke deficit in winning the 30th annual Waikaloa Open on the Big Island.

Regan Lee shot a 69 and Lance Suzuki carded a 72 to finish tied for second, three shots behind Hearn at 214 after 54 holes.

In the Seniors division, Dick McClean fired a blistering 65 to pass Larry Stubblefield. Stubblefield, who came into the final round with a 1-stroke lead, shot 70 to finish four shots back.

Water park to host Keiki Sprint Triathlon

Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park will put on a Keiki Sprint Triathlon for kids ages 7-14 Oct. 11. The race will take place within the boundaries of the park.

Competitors and parents are encouraged to attend a youth triathlon clinic Oct. 4.

Competitors and their families will be offered a special price to stay and play at the water park after the triathlon.
