The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Barnwell is lone winner
Barnwell Industries Inc. eked out a 0.4 percent gain this week to finish as the only member of the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin in positive territory. The Honolulu-based company, which has oil and gas explorations in Canada and a land development on the Big Island, closed yesterday at $24.95.
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., the parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, had a spectacular run from its 2003 intraday low of 29 cents on June 13 to $1.93 on Wednesday -- a 566 percent rise -- before heading lower at the end of this week and finishing off 6.3 percent at $1.50.
