Honolulu firefighters battled two small brush fires in Waipahu and Pupukea yesterday.
Fire Capt. Emmit Kane said a brush fire burned about three acres behind Waipahu High School about 12:26 p.m.
Students had finished classes before the brush fire started, Kane said. About 24 city and federal firefighters had extinguished the fire at 3:40 p.m. Firefighters are investigating the fire's cause.
A small brush fire occurred near the Boy Scouts' campsite in Pupukea about 6:58 a.m. and was extinguished at 3:55 p.m. Firefighters spent hours extinguishing hot spots before leaving Pupukea.
Ranger Charles Williamson said the fire occurred about a mile from the campsite. No structures were threatened by the blaze, Williamson said.
