Two Honolulu companies and the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii have been awarded more than $37 million in military contracts, U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye announced yesterday.
"This demonstrates that local entities can compete at the highest level and that Hawaii businesses and professionals have much to offer," Inouye said in a press release.
The Honolulu firm of James H. Lee was awarded a $23,147,700, with an additional option of $880,000, for additions and renovations to the National Guard's Building 117 in Kalaeloa.
The Research Corporation of UH was awarded $7,462,180 by the Navy to design, develop and test a tube transmitter that will be used for the Advanced Hawkeye reconnaissance aircraft.
The Navy also awarded Magnum Firearms of Honolulu $7,294,532 for anti-terrorism protection training for military personnel.
