4-peat for Otsuji in sailing canoes

Marvin Otsuji captained the Kamakakoa to a fourth consecutive series title Saturday as the Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association completed its season.

The final event of the Aston Hotels and Resorts' nine-race series was the Kendall Pacific Challenge, a 24-mile race along the Kauai coast from Nawiliwili to Waimea.

Finishing second in the series was Tui Tonga, captained by Jason Dameron of Oahu. The La'amaomao, with Oahu's Matt Buckman as captain, was third.

The all-wahine division was won by Moa E Ku, captained by Terry Galpin of Oahu.

The series began with the April 26 Alenuihaha Channel Race from Keokea on the Big Island to Hana Maui. The HSCA schedule includes races across nearly every channel in the main Hawaiian chain in order to perpetuate the cultural tradition of sailing canoes.
