Lou Rawls to jazz up Hawaii film festival next month
Jazz entertainer Lou Rawls will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Koko Marina Courtyard in a fund-raiser for the Hawai'i International Film Festival.The event also will include a sneak preview of one of HIFF's award-winning independent feature films.
Tickets are $100, which includes admission to the concert, two champagne cocktails, a sneak preview of one of the festival's feature films, and admission to its opening night, and $200, which includes admission to the concert with preferred seating inside Assaggio's for dinner and wine, two champagne cocktails, a sneak preview of one of the festival's feature films, and admission to the opening night festivities.

Grandparent's Day
Grandparents offer youngsters an abundance of knowledge and guidance, and to acknowledge their contributions The Children's Discovery Center is inviting families to celebrate Grandparent's Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.There will be interactive activities for kids and the young at heart as families explore and learn together.
Fujifilm Hawaii will be taking family photos and memory books can be created to capture the highlights of the day.
Admission for adults is $8, ages 2 to 17 pay $6.75, and keikis under 2 are admitted free. The center is at 111 Ohe St., across from Kakaako Waterfront Park. Call 524-5437.
