‘Idol’ audition finale set

"American Idol" executives are calling the series' audition finale "Countdown to Honolulu," as judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, and host Ryan Seacrest prepare to wrap up third-season auditions in Honolulu this month at Aloha Stadium.

Hopefuls can vie for a spot on Sept. 30 -- following auditions in New York, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, -- for the show that begins airing again in January.

"Idol" wannabes can begin lining up at 9 a.m. on Sept. 29 near Gate 3. The parking lot will open at 7 a.m. However, no one under age 13 will be allowed to camp overnight, and no one will be allowed to hold a place in line for another person for an extended period of time.

Fox executives are expecting a huge turnout, so auditioners are advised to arrive early. Producers cannot guarantee that you will be seen for an audition.

All auditioners must have two forms of identification, including one photo ID.

Auditioners must be a United States resident, 16 to 24 years old by Aug. 3, 2003, and eligible to work in the U.S. Candidates with any type of talent representation, recording contract, merchandising agreement, or other contractual arrangement that would prohibit them from entering into new management, recording and merchandising contracts, are ineligible.

Also ineligible are those who made it into the top 30 roster of contestants for "America Idol's" first season, or the top 32 contestants of the second season.

Those under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Legal guardians must bring proof of guardianship.

When auditioning, do not reveal tattoos or wear clothing items bearing designer, sports or other logos or brand names, or bearing the name or likeness of celebrities, living or dead.

Be prepared to sing a song of your choice a capella. In the event you are called back, you may be asked to sing two songs a cappella. One song must be selected from a list that will be provided by the producer prior to the first recall and the other song, if requested by producer, may be a song of your choice.

Following the Aloha Stadium audition, finals will be conducted Oct. 1 through 5 at the Sheraton Waikiki.
