Water, water everywhere, but no time for a dip in the ocean now? Don't fret. You may be stuck in classes all day now that summer's over, but the wet-and-wild outdoor look can be had with nary an irritating grain of sand between the toes.
Why look like anyone else who's put in a day of study or hard time at the office, when your hair can telegraph a "just been to the beach" insouciance anytime?
Where it once took ocean spray to achieve the laidback look of toussled, salt-crusted hair, a mere spritz of Surf Spray is all it takes to strike a no-fuss pose.
The product from New York's Bumble and Bumble salon can be found at Kissa Salon at 1347 Kapiolani Boulevard.
It was just a matter of time before this tress treatment took hold. First there was instant tan in a tube, followed by perfumes with the scent of coconut conjuring up daydreams of vacations in Tahiti and beyond.
A 4-ounce bottle of Surf Spray retails for $16 at Kissa.
"You can use it for day or evening," said salon owner Kissa Srivongsana, who adds, "It creates volume in the hair and gives it more body" for a sexy, carefree look.
Applied to the roots of washed, dry hair, the product delivers shape and body with a simple scrunch of the hand.

Smell clean all day

Clean fragrance will help you keep that fresh-out-of-the-shower scent all day.

And while we're on the subject of projecting a natural image -- however unnaturally -- one of the hottest perfumes on the market, and available at Sephora, is Dlish's Clean, a fragrance created to give wearers that fresh-out-of-shower smell.
The original Clean Eau de Parfum ($76 and $120) sort of smells like a milder version of Irish Spring, and a Sweet Layer ($76)delivers the fresh scent of orange, grapefruit, lime, neroli and rose.
Now, you may ask, "What's wrong with making a date with a bar of soap?"
Nice try, but in case you haven't noticed, the soap smell evaporates in minutes.
Clean founder Randi Shinder, who managed loyalty marketing programs for Privilege Card Canada, loved the bath smell and developed the fragrances for herself because she disliked strong fragrances. After wearing her scent, she was surprised to find so many people she knew asking for the fragrance.
Pretty soon it was embraced by A-list celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz, chatted up on the Internet, and within months Shinder has developed new products including a Clean Men fragrance ($79), Clean Baby Girl (the smell of innocence, $45), Clean Pure Perfume Oil ($82), and Clean Soft Body Lotion, containing shea butter, sweet almond oil, aloe vera and vitamin E ($59).
Not to be outdone, Clinique has introduced the mild-mannered scent, Simply. And let's not forget Bobbi Brown's Beach, a blend of "sand jasmine, sea spray and mandarin," to keep you in that summer frame of mind.
