Roy Ryoki Awa, 79, of Honolulu, a retired Yokota Air Base general foreman, died Sept. 3, 2003, at home. He was born in Makaweli, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Tomiko, son Richard, daughter Frances Oka, brother Matsujiro and sister Yuriko Miyashiro. Services: noon Friday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.

Emiily Ponoluna "Aunty Ems" Aweau, 71, of Hauula, a Handi-Van driver, died Aug. 29, 2003, in Kaiser Medical Center. She was born in Hauula. She is survived by husband Arthur K.; daughters Vanda P. Kaanaana, Lyonette K. Waa and Faith L. Siufanua; brother the Rev. Lynons Welch; sister Mary Carreira; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Daniel Costa, 63, of Hilo, owner of Danny Costa Painting Service in Hilo and a U.S. Army veteran, died Sept. 1, 2003, in Hilo Medical Center. He is survived by wife Virginia L.; sons Alvin and Anthony Pagan; daughters Joan Iona and Jacqueline "Jackie" Kahana; brothers Herman, Lawrence and Herbert Costa and Gilbert DeCosta; sisters Violet Nakea, Lillian Perreira, Thelma Riviera and May Agcalon; and fifteen grandchildren. Marcelo Dizon, 78, of Nanakuli, a former restaurant owner in the Philippines, died Sept. 4, 2003, at home. He was born in the Philippines.
