Silverswords lose volleyball home opener
Chaminade fell to 3-3 for this season after Barry beat the Silverswords 30-26, 30-23, 30-22 at McCabe Gym yesterday.
Kahala Kabalis led Chaminade with 13 kills and five service aces. Valasi Sepulona added 12 kills, while Kalae Araujo had 14 digs and Michelle Norman had 33 assists in the match.
Barry hit for a .400 percentage.
The Silverswords host UC-San Diego (noon) and St. Mary's (7:30 p.m.) today.
Waikoloa Open entry deadline approaching
The deadline for player entries to the Waikoloa Open, played at the Waikoloa Village, Beach and Kings' courses, is next Friday.

Wahine Jamboree set for Sept. 23
The Wahine Jamboree, a fund-raiser for the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine basketball program, is set for Sept. 23 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Tickets cost $50 and may be purchased by telephone (944-2679), on the Internet at www.etickethawaii.com or at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each person purchasing a ticket will receive two tickets to the Wahine game against Fairfield on Dec. 22.
Volunteers needed for library golf tournament
The Hawaii Library Foundation needs volunteers for its 10th annual Marriott Links to Literacy Golf Tournament being held Sept. 19 at the Ko Olina Golf Club.
A variety of part-day and all-day jobs are available. Especially needed are volunteers to work the contests at the par-3 holes during the afternoon. Golf experience is not necessary.
