PARTY WITH a purpose this weekend over at Indigo during "Devotion," a charity event to help fight the sexual exploitation of women and children.
Cover for the party on Saturday is five bucks, and all the proceeds will go to Sisters Offering Support. Doors open at 10 p.m.
Among those who have agreed to volunteer their time and play that night include DJs Chia, Marloca, Toki and Miss Angel from the Sisters in Sound, Rebel Girl Underground's Lady J and Primmitiv, Danny Yun and Jason Silingo.
Now you don't have to spend the entire night at Indigo (although with a DJ lineup like this, why would you want to leave?), but try to at least stop by -- you'll be helping to raise money for a good cause ...
FOLLOWING A successful run at the Maze in Waikiki, the promoter collective known as the Juicy Crew moves their signature event to Waterfront Cafe at Aloha Tower Marketplace starting tomorrow night.
"Juicy" is open to party people 18-and-over, and features two rooms of music with DJs Anit, Daniel J, G-Spot, IKON, Lava, Mixmaster B, Scottie Soul, Sonik, Sovergn T and Stealth. Call 591-3500 ...
ALSO ON Friday, head downtown to Club Pauahi for an evening of indie rock, Brit pop, electroclash and '80s favorites at "Club Rebel Rebel," starting at 9:30 p.m.
I wasn't able to make it to the first installment of this monthly party back in August, but you've got to love a night at the club when the DJs are spinning tracks ranging from Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell," to Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City" and L'Trimm's "Cars That Go Boom." Throw in some New Order, Soft Cell and a random track from Missy Elliot, and we're talking about a pretty interesting mix, if you ask me.
Five bucks gets you through the door at "Club Rebel Rebel" after 10:30 p.m., but it's absolutely free (with a flyer) to get in for the first hour. The night is also a record release party for mainland band Pretty Girls Make Graves, and DJ Sleeze (of C*ntroversy fame) is scheduled to perform a guest set ...
HIP-HOP HEADS won't want to miss DJ Murs on Sunday night at the Wave Waikiki.
Hailing from Oakland, Calif., Murs is part of the Definitive Jux family and Living Legends crew, and has released a number of albums over the past seven years or so, including "Comurshul," "Murs Rules the World" and his latest, "End of the Beginning."
Those 18-and-over are welcome at this one, and be sure to get there early to check out the opening set by DJ Oliver Twist and Positive Regime, with MCs Kavet the Catalyst, Kelvin 0, Omega Cix and others ...
