Cinema Series’ begins
its first season
The "Architecture Cinema Series" begins its inaugural season Wednesday at the University of Hawaii School of Architecture's auditorium.
The film series will focus on provoking an interest in visionary cinematic works from the perspectives of art, architecture, culture and society.
"Architecture is not just about buildings," said Patrick Tozier, of the UH School of Architecture Alumni Association. "It is about life, so there is no distinguishing one from the other ... and no more dramatic is this relationship played out than in cinema."
Tozier and James Lynch, of the American Institute of Architects and Students, are the series' curators, with Dwight Damon, of the Movie Museum, and Sergio Goes, from the Cinema Paradise Film Festival, acting as consultants.
The architecture school is located at 2410 Campus Road, and the auditorium is on the second level.
Screenings will be at 6:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month (except January), with receptions scheduled a hour earlier. Admission is $4, and parking at the school is $3, open to the public after 4 p.m. Call 550-0503.
The series is sponsored by Honblue, the Movie Museum and the Cinema Paradise Film Festival and hosted by the University of Hawaii School of Architecture and Alumni and the American Institute of Architects and Students.
