Bachelor party for
Liew held at Clark Hatch


Another kind of bachelor party was thrown Thursday at Clark Hatch Fitness Center for Matt Liew, one of the strongest and most muscular men to work out at the gym. Matt marries Noelle Mimaki next Saturday at the Kahala Mandarin so Eric Rosso set up a 10 Station Circuit Workout party for him. A bunch of gym members and trainers took part. Two women trainers, Ewa Marqucz and Estrella Barnett were assigned by Eric to assist Matt. Eric also kept things lively as emcee. Tank tops reading: "I Want to be Like Matt" and "Go Heavy or Go Home" were worn by participants. Also taking part in the heavy, but fun, workout were gym owner Bill Monsen, trainer Don Heafner, and Dick Gushman, Mike Jones, Vince Miyoi, Billy Ching and Steve Latimer. Concert at the Bali

A mini concert with Kit Samson at the piano and singers Nohelani Cypriano, Sonya Mendez and beauty queen Lianne Mark was a highlight last weekend at Hilton Village's Bali restaurant. They performed mainly for their host, Dr. Larry Tseu, who had a table of 11 guests, including Carole Kai and Kimo Kahoano. The occasion was the recreation of the old Kahala Hilton Maile Room menu by ex-Maile Chef Martin Wyss. It was a reunion of Kahala Hilton employees and Maile Room regulars, said Bali manager Alicia Antonio, former Kahala employee, as are Hilton Village food and beverage chief Gary Manago and Charlie Goodness, who flew in from the Mauna Kea Resort ...

Elia Long will be honored at the Grand Luau presented on Iolani Palace grounds Sept. 28, 4 to 8 p.m., in celebration of Queen Liliuokalani's 165th birthday. Elia has served on the Friends of Iolani Palace board for 26 years. Watters Martin is chairing the event. The planning committee includes Alice Guild, Puchi Romig, Wendy Crabb, Van Horn Diamond, Bill Haole, Kitty Kamaka and Sandra Harvey.
