Queen's Surf hosts Player's Championship
The Oahu Volleyball Association and AVPNext are holding the Player's Championships tomorrow and Sunday at the Queen's Surf Beach Sand Box.
Competition will take place in men's and women's doubles. The registration fee is $30 per team in advance and $40 the day of the event. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the first match scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

Family Stones slowpitch tournament under way
The Family Stones Athletic Club is holding the 20th annual Family Stones High School Alumni Slowpitch Softball Tournament through Sunday at Central Oahu District Park.
All teams represent local high schools from around the state and over 750 players will participate.

Pajaro Valley holds lead at HIBT tournament
HONOKOHAU, Hawaii >> Pajaro Valley Billfish Club moved within one day of claiming its third Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament championship yesterday after Jim Ramsey reeled in his second marlin in as many days.
Ramsey, who had a tag-and-release catch Wednesday, brought in a 508-pound marlin after a 26-minute fight, and extended the team total to 1,674 points for the Watsonville, Calif., club.
The Tournament Anglers of the Big Island held onto second place when Bart Hoey claimed his third marlin catch of the tournament and Mike Tokunaga added another tag-and-release.
Fans urged to buy volleyball tickets early
Volleyball fans are encouraged to purchase tickets before game time for the State Farm Women's Volleyball Classic, the Hawaii Ticket Office said yesterday.
Tickets can be purchased at the UH Ticket Office at the Stan Sheriff Center, the Aloha Stadium box office, at the UH Campus Center or by phone at 944-BOWS or online at etickethawaii.com.
Individual tickets will be available today.
