It's a mixed bag of performances that promoter Tim Bostock brings to stage this fall, from Middle Eastern poetry to Chinese martial arts:
An Evening with Rumi: Stories and poetry by the Sufi poet Jalaluddin Rumi will be presented by Dan Furst, accompanied by Middle Eastern music and dervish turning by members of the Mevlevi Order. Shanghai Symphony Orchestra: The Hawaii debut of the 80-piece orchestra will include works by Mozart, Beethoven and the soundtrack from the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Young@Heart: Thirty-five senior citizens from Northampton, Mass. (average age, 77), rock their way through a century of pop and rock 'n' roll classics. At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17, Hawaii Theatre. Le Masquerade: The annual Honolulu Theatre for Youth fund-raiser is a Halloween costume party with the theme "Once Upon a Spooky Time." Come dressed as your favorite storybook character or in your best Halloween costume. The evening includes ghostly performances, costume prizes, games, auction, music and buffet dinner.
