Landry will program and conduct the symphony's Youth Music Education Program, consult with music director Samuel Wong on artistic issues and serve as a community advocate for music education.

Landry most recently held the positions of apprentice conductor of the Oregon Symphony and music director of the Lewis & Clark College Orchestra. She was guest conductor with the Czech Republic's Karlsbad Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Bach Festival, and cover conductor with the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Symphony executives evaluated more than 150 applicants before narrowing the field to eight. Each finalist was asked to create a program for an educational concert and to rehearse the orchestra in performance of a contemporary composition.

Landry, a Massachusetts native, holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, and received her Master of Music and Artist Diploma in orchestral conducting from the Hartt School of Music.

The Honolulu Symphony started its music education programs in 1928. This tradition continues with the Youth Music Education Program, which reaches more than 50,000 children annually.
