Peretti’s ‘Visions’ to persist
Star-Bulletin staff
You have two more weeks to catch the "Unique Visions" exhibition on display at Tiffany & Co.'s 2100 Kalakaua store.
The display highlights the work of designer Elsa Peretti, acclaimed for her stylized interpretations of organic forms such as bones, snakes, beans, apples and starfish.
Her work was also inspired by Japanese craft, particularly the 70-step process of urashi, or applying lacquer over hardwood.
She also chose to use silk as an alternate to the jeweler's traditional chain. She was inspired by its combination of strength and beauty, with its natural flowing swing. One of her creations is a pearl wrapped in silk thread like the glass floats on fishermen's nets.
Also on view will be an 18K gold mesh halter in a form-fitting bias cut, as well as a liquid-like collar necklace with emerald beads.
The display will be on view 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through Sept. 2. For more information, call 926-2600.
