>>Robert Boon has been named chief operating officer of Charter Funding of Hawaii/First Magnus Financial Corp., where he will oversee daily production for retail and wholesale business. He was previously New America account executive.

>> Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union has hired Karen K. Gionson as Town Center of Mililani branch manager. She was most recently a branch manager at another local institution. Jo Ann M. Nagatori has been named vice president of operations charged with overseeing the credit union's member service and branch operations. She was most recently operations manager at another institution. And Lorraine Shimokawa has been named vice president of lending. She has 28 years of lending experience.

>> Warren Mitsuda joins the Honolulu office of American Express as field vice president. He was managing director of financial planning at ING.

PROMOTIONS

>> City Bank has promoted Roy K. Amemiya to senior vice president. He joined the bank in 2001 and is responsible for the direction of the bank's dealer center, consumer loan center, equipment leasing and business services. He has more than 22 years of banking experience. He also served four years as the city director of budget and fiscal services.

>> Etta Palea has been promoted to senior vice president of financial services for the Big Island Federal Credit Union. She has been with the credit union for three years serving as vice president of financial services. She is now responsible for member services, loans, marketing and advertising, information technology, compliance and security, and overall branch operations. Prior to joining the credit union, she had more than 27 years of banking experience on the Big Island, specializing in consumer, mortgage and business lending. On the board

>> The Urban Land Institute Hawaii District Council has named Melvin Kaneshige chairman for 2003-04. Kaneshige is senior vice president and chief operating officer of Outrigger Enterprises Inc. Other officers are: Assistant Chair Sanford Murata, Treasurer Jeffrey Dinsmore, Co-vice chairs of sponsorship Harry Saunders and Mitchell D. Olier, Vice Chair of Programs David Miller, Vice Chair of Communications Christina Kemmer, and Vice Chair of Membership James Stanney.
