Konishiki, Choy
team up for dinner

Sam Choy and former sumo great Konishiki teamed up to present a special dinner for 12 last weekend. The dinner, at Konishiki's new home in Maili, brought in more money than any other silent auction item in Kapiolani Hospital's Fundango fund-raiser for Children at Risk Evaluation. It was purchased by MidWeek columnists Jerry Coffee and Susan Page, and Lynda and Keahi Pelayo for $2,500. Their guests were Tom and Robin Rohr, Jerry Coffee Jr. and his wife Allana, Rick and Jeri Broadfoot, and Jim and Colleen McAluney. Wine was provided by M&S Brokerage's Mark and Theresa Milton and Jarett Yoshida. Singer-guitarist Jeff Rasmussen performed. Konishiki and Choy received gifts of tapa, designed by Adeline Pritchard, for their efforts. Smith Barney's Audra Butera, who works with the Konishiki Kids Foundation, coordinated the affair and arranged for the dinner to be in the silent auction. Audra was a server, along with her husband Scott, and Doug Rigg, Bill Markevitch, Natalie Aczon and Matt Mattice. Platinum provided limos. Konishiki's dad, Lautoa Atisanoe, gave guests a tour of the home and gave the dinner prayer. Grant Sim and Sally Watanabe-Kim helped Sam in the kitchen. Tony Acosta and Lenny Fabro of ACCEL supplied party decor ...
