IN FOR DISGUISE

art
Jocelyn Nemoto, second from left, Sarah Kawahara and Jane Loo congratulated Bruno, left, and Jason Lent, of Disguise, after the group opened at Phillip Paolo's in Restaurant Row on Friday. Lent, Bruno and Kimo James have taken the trio (formerly DisGuyz) into a more eclectic R&B/hip-hop/pop sound since the name change, and are now working with a live band instead of karaoke-style tracks. Manu Boyd and Chrissy Naruo also stopped in on Friday.

GREAT SHOW, JAY!

art
Jay Larrin, center, evoked memories of the old Gangplank Lounge with his show at the Sheraton Waikiki on Friday. Alan Yamamoto, left, and Shawn Ho were on hand as Larrin told stories, read poems and shared songs ranging from "The Snows of Mauna Kea" to "The Flying Beaver Ranch."

HELLBOUND HOUNDS
ROCK THE WAVE

art
The Hellbound Hounds -- Kyle Plyler, left, Matt Bennett, Joel Tokunaga, Kyle Miyamoto and Nate Verdugo -- rocked the Wave Waikiki at a party celebrating the release of the Hounds' debut album, "Bound," on Saturday. The quintet took the stage shortly after midnight for a powerful set that featured songs from the album and new ones as well. The Hounds are a visually interesting band by themselves but had go-go dancers for the occasion.
