MY LIVER didn't think I'd make it, but I'm happy to report that I survived another birthday over the weekend.
Although some personal drama kind of brought things down on the actual day (and kept me from getting to the Hard Rock Cafe, where the guys from Godsmack were hanging out), I had a blast at Blue Tropix on Saturday -- even though I was wearing a miniature plastic cowboy hat that said "It's my birthday -- give me a kiss!" ANOTHER CELEBRATION that took place over the weekend was a CD release party for Pati at The Beach House. His second album, "Think of Me," just dropped, and Pati was joined by Aloha, B.E.T., Weldon Kekauoha and Tapa Groove, Ten Feet and Toa on stage at Aloha Tower Marketplace ...
SPEAKING OF CD release parties, get over to the Pussycat Lounge at Wave Waikiki tonight and help Scotty Soul blow up the club with the release of "Tokyo 606." Seven bucks gets you into this 21-and-over party, which also features guest DJs Fatlace (from Seattle) and Zabi (from San Francisco), along with local DJs Daniel J, G-Spot, Kause, KSM, Jrama and Sub-Zero. REGISTRATION IS open for local bands planning to compete in the "2003 Mai Tai Rumble" at Ala Moana Center's Mai Tai Bar.

AND GOOD LUCK to "First Thursdays" host Steve Kealoha Wong, who is in Chicago this week for the 2003 National Poetry Slam Competition. He's the first individual from Hawaii to represent our state in the contest, which brings over 270 poets together for a chance at a $5,000 first prize.
