A hazardous-material scare hit downtown Honolulu yesterday after a gloved man handed a bank teller papers causing her hands to itch. A firefighter was decontaminated at the Bankoh site on Merchant Street.

Two women in contamination suits left the building for debriefing, then were loaded onto an ambulance. Tests of the papers later detected no toxins.

Finance Factors held its Eighth Annual Breakfast Benefit to support the Aloha United Way yesterday, serving Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs, rice and juice to downtown workers. Finance Factors employee Howard Murai mixed up some sausage during the event.
