Stuffs
[ PREVIEW ]
Here is a preview of movies opening Friday:
"American Wedding" >> Notice this isn't being called "American Pie 3" -- although it is, even though screenwriter Adam Herz swore that the previous sequel was the end. With East Great Falls High just a memory, Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan reprise their roles as the soon-to-be-married couple Jim and Michelle. Lunkhead Stifler (Seann William Scott) wants to throw the ultimate bachelor party for his bud, while tightwad Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) is vying with Stifler for the affection of Michelle's sexy younger sister and maid of honor Cadence (January Jones). Meantime, Jim's always well-meaning dad (Eugene Levy) continues to dispense advice no one wants to hear. (R)
"Gigli" >> That's pronounced "Jeely," by the way. Besides being the film that brought Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez together, "Gigli" is intended to be writer-director Martin Brest's comeback film in light of the success of "Beverly Hills Cop" and the bomb that was "Meet Joe Black." Affleck plays lowly hit man Larry Gigli, a faltering tough guy who kidnaps an L.A. prosecutor's mentally impaired brother (Justin Bartha). When Gigli begins to feel sorry for his abductee, his bosses send in a contract killer (Lopez) to supervise, but both wind up shielding their charge. (R)
